   Presidency and offices

Since 1988, the presidency, offices, library, and historical archive of the National Academy of Agriculture have been headquartered on the first floor of this ancient Bolognese senatorial palace.

The building preserves its harmonious sixteenth-century appearance intact, developing its structure between the elegant portico with Doric columns along Via Castiglione and the internal arcaded courtyard that gives access to a wide, straight staircase, according to a pattern common in Bolognese Renaissance residential architecture.

The facade, plastered with sandstone moldings, is characterized by five elegant windows surmounted by triangular or lunette pediments and a row of small rectangular windows on the upper floor, following a rational design not far from the schemes of the sixteenth-century architect Jacopo Barozzi, known as "Il Vignola".

In the first half of the 18th century, the ground floor of the palace hosted a highly popular school of painting, run by Ercole Lelli, who primarily taught anatomical drawing there.

The rooms of the Academy, located on the noble floor, include the room known as the "Napoleon" room due to the presence of a marble bust of the Emperor, the offices of the Presidency and Secretariat, the Board of Directors Room, the Library Reading Room, and various rooms mostly decorated with frescoed ceilings depicting hunting scenes, floral decorations, and "illustrious men".
