The Historical Archive
An important archival core consisting of heterogeneous documents that, produced and collected over time, provides broad and clear evidence of the life and activities of the National Academy of Agriculture starting from 1807, the year the Agricultural Society of the Reno Department was founded.
The archive, organized in two sections—the older one covering the years from 1807 to 1944, and the modern one from 1945 to 1999—features among its most significant series the "Minutes of the Board of Directors and Censorship", the "Minutes of the social meetings of the academic body", and the "Administrative Correspondence", which allow for retracing the institutional history of the academic association over the centuries. Due to its importance, the Historical Archive has been recognized as being of particularly significant historical interest by the Archival Superintendency for Emilia-Romagna, as well as studied and described by Andrea Risi in "The Ancient Collection of the Library of the National Academy of Agriculture," published in 2002. Furthermore, its cataloging was included in the "City of Archives" project, promoted by the Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna, which offers web users information resources on a significant portion of the most important archives for the history of the city of Bologna, at the link: https://www.cittadegliarchivi.it
The services of the historical archive are accessible exclusively by appointment, and the available volumes are for internal consultation only, as lending is not permitted.
